General Information About Pets

Dogs and cats are loving and faithful animals. He or She would like to die for his master rather than to deceive him. In India there are very few pets lucky enough to receive due attention from their masters. Most of the dogs are kept like an ordinary watch dog. Their proper upkeep, diseases and treatment are often neglected by both dog and cat owners. Dogs and cats are susceptible to certain infections. Even an ordinary symptoms of vomiting may prove fatal if not treated immediately. There is rapid dehydration leading to the death of the animal in no time.

Hence even common symptoms like loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhoea should taken quite seriously and qualified Veterinarian be consulted as early as possible. In no case try your own treatments on your pets just browsing internet or google. Certain human drugs are contraindicated for dogs and cats. Very recently one of my neighbor came to me with his sweet black Pomeranian in his arms for medical aid. I immediately examined the dog and found him dead. On inquiry I came to know that the owner had administered him a single dose of anthelmintic treatment only a few minutes back without consulting Vet. When the pet became drowsy, he gave him one tablet of sulphadiazine and this was sufficient to kill the dog. Most of the pet owners believe that drugs are answer to every thing but these should be used only when it is a must.

The cats have played a variety of roles in the history of man. These are particularly hardly animals and have both been worshiped and feared.

General Information About Pets

Cats are motivated by pleasure for themselves, rather than a desire to please. Cats provide unconditional love and affection, undivided loyalty and devotion and total acceptance. These pets are easy to care for and provide emotional comfort and pleasurable activity without any conflicts. Indoor cats often live to 15 years or more while the average life span for an outdoor cat is 2 - 3 years. No doubt some problems arise when cats are kept indoor but these can be overcome by providing the cat with all of the amenities of outdoor living.

Rambunctious and overly playful cats need some regular play sessions with their masters, or even a second cat, to keep them active. The two most common diseases of cats are cat flu and feline enteritis caused by feline calicivirus and feline panleucopenia viral infections. It is important to vaccinate the cat by taking them to the nearest veterinary clinic or vet. Your veterinarian will advice you the vaccination program in detail.

General Information About Pets

By nature cats are more mysterious and fascinating pet. They have well developed sense of smell, hearing, sight and taste.

Pets cannot describe their complaints, hence to diagnose a disease among animals is a difficult and challenging task for the Veterinary Physician. Moreover the limitations of the diagnostics facilities under Indian field conditions and lack of proper co-operations by the owner of the pet makes the task still more difficult and complicated.
