Points To Be Observed in Healthy Dogs and Cats

Skin and Coat : Spotless, hair free belly, no sores or scales over the skin or hair coat. It should be free from ectoparasites, eggs or droppings, loose hairs or scurf and be preferably clean and well groomed.

Ears : Alert, active, clean with no discharge.

Eyes : Clear, attractive, shining and without any discharge. Third eyelid should not be unduly visible.

Nose : Cool, moist, clean, no discharge.

Feet : Free from tears, thorns, splinters or damaged pads with unbroken claws.

Abdomen : Should be free from wounds, sores or over growths. It should not be distended.

Anus : Should be clean and not fouled with loose droppings.

Appetite : Normal and good with liking for the food.

Behaviour : Should be friendly, docile and lively. Shy temperament and nervous pups and kittens are not desirable.

Temparature/Pulse rate/Respiration : Should be normal without coughing or sneezing.

Movements : Attractive, lively and free from limping.

Dropping : Neither sloppy nor hard, not pale.
