How to Train Your Dog ???

                                          Start training at the age of 3 months to 6 months. Do not try to teach the dog too much at a time. Short daily lessons are best to teach them. Use a firm tone of voice and the same word every time for each command you give to your pet. Proceed as under: 1. Sit : Take the dog on his leash into a quiet room/place before meal. Order him to "Sit" in a firm voice and push him down on his rear end. Reward and praise him after getting the job done each time. 2. Down : Press the shoulder of a sitting dog and say "Down" while pulling his/her forelegs forwards. Again reward and praise. 3. Stay : Put the pet on a long leash and make him sit. Time Table for Rearing Pups

3 - 4 Days : check the entire body of any abnormality. Keep him sucking on mother milk for 1.5 months of age. 4 Weeks : Offer small quantities of solid food. Change in diet should be gradual, start feeding calcium and mineral mixture after getting advice from your veterinarian. 6 Weeks Old : Start weaning and put on solid food and complete this in 8 weeks. Do not remove him from mother before 6 weeks. Give 5 meals a day in small quantities and provide enough of drinking water and keep him warm. 8 - 10 Weeks Old : Provide 4 meals a day and vaccinate against Distemper, Corona and Parvo virus or consult a veterinarian. 10 - 12 Weeks Old : Provide 4 meals a day at regular intervals and liver tonics once a day. 12 - 16 Weeks Old : Provide 3 meals a day and vaccinate against Rabies during 14th week. 4 - 6 Months Old : Provide 2 -3 meals a day as per breed of the dog.

Points To Be Observed in Healthy Dogs and Cats

Skin and Coat : Spotless, hair free belly, no sores or scales over the skin or hair coat. It should be free from ectoparasites, eggs or droppings, loose hairs or scurf and be preferably clean and well groomed. Ears : Alert, active, clean with no discharge. Eyes : Clear, attractive, shining and without any discharge. Third eyelid should not be unduly visible. Nose : Cool, moist, clean, no discharge. Feet : Free from tears, thorns, splinters or damaged pads with unbroken claws. Abdomen : Should be free from wounds, sores or over growths. It should not be distended. Anus : Should be clean and not fouled with loose droppings. Appetite : Normal and good with liking for the food. Behaviour : Should be friendly, docile and lively. Management Routines for Dogs & Cats

Daily : Look for general appearance, attitude to daily life, appetite and activity. Grroming should be done each morning. In case of any change investigate thoroughly. Weekly : Examine and clean the ears at weekly interval. Thoroughly check the fur and skin for external parasites. Apply deodarants and appropriate talcum powder each week. Fortnightly : Check appearance of the claws and nail length. Trim if necessary. Monthly : Examine and clean the teeth, if so required, by cotton swab soaked in salt solution. In case of foul smell contact your veterinarian. Dog toothpaste should be used for cleaning the teeth twice a month. Deworm the pet as per the schedule. Half Yearly : Deworm your pet for ecto and endoparasites every 3 weeks for the prevention. If you dont know about the deworming schedule contact your Veterinarian for the help.
